Mango – The Divine Plant

In India during festivities, marriages, important days, occasions and on all auspicious days tying mango leaves on the door, decorating the Pandals is a tradition followed and practised.Ā The truth behind tying these mango leaves on these occasions is to avoid spreading diseases by microorganisms thus avoiding contagions and infectious diseases.

Amraphala, chootha, Pikavalabha, Rasala are the different names in Sanskrit for Mango, which belongs to Anacardiaceae plant family. The scientific name is Mangifera Indica. Bhubaneswar in Odisha called ā€˜Ekamra Kshetraā€™, here Lord Shiva in the form of Linga came out from the roots of the mango tree.

  • The raw mango has more starch and carbohydrates, by the time it ripes gets converted into sugars (fructose). Similarly, the vitamin C in raw mango is more.

The raw mangoes taste sour because of ocolic, citric, malic and succinct acids presence. The fruit bears much amount of sugars along with Malice and Tartaric acids in sufficient qualities.

Immediately, after eating raw mango or mango fruit one should not drink water. After eating this fruit taking one or two teaspoons of ginger juice or half a cup of milk or chewing little Cumin seeds avoid stomach irritation, indigestion and diarrhoea.

PRELIMINARY STAGES OF DIABETES

Taking 15 ml three times a day of tender mango leaf juice gives good relief from the preliminary stage of diabetes or half a teaspoon of powder of tender mango leaves dried in shade with 50 ml water consumed two times a day also gives benefit.

Insect Bites

The sap from the bark when cut, Leaf or mangoes applied on the place of a bite by any Insect will relieve from the pain, irritation etc., Dried and stored sap oozing can be used by mixing in water, made as a paste and apply on eczema, scratching and skin related diseases etc. This paste can also be used as a remedy for a cracked foot.

Asthma, Cough

The powder of dried mango seed without the outer coat, half a teaspoon with an equal amount of honey taken two times a day is a good remedy. Regular use of smaller, required quantities depending on the age group of children will set right the sagging of the anus.

Also, 4 to 5 grams of this powder mixed with an equal amount of jaggery powder is a good remedy for deworming in children.

Diarrhea with Blood

Consuming half a teaspoon full of powder of dried Mango seed without an outer coat in 100 ml buttermilk in the morning and evening relieves diarrhoea with blood. This relives not only diarrhoea with blood but also relieves stomach pain, irritation in the stomach, mouth, gums, lungs, blood from anus and piles.

Dandruff

Apply the paste of the powder of dried Mango seed without an outer coat in sufficient water to the scalp for two hours, thrice a week relieves the suffering from dandruff.

Hair Related Problems

Take Gingly Oil in an Iron bowel, add powder of dried Mango seed without outer coat half the quantity of Gingly oil, to this add Karakai, Tanikaya, Amla powders (available in Ayurvedic Medicine Shops) half the quantity of powder of dried Mango seed without outer coat (called as Triphala Churna) mixing the same in morning and evening, keep for one week, the filtered extract can be used for Hair related problems like hair falling, gray hair etc., in addition, hair becomes soft and shining.

Burns

The ashes of the burnt Mango tree wood added in sufficient coconut oil can be applied on burns, which gives good relief.

Excess Urination

The powder of dried tender mangos with twice the powder of sugar, half a teaspoon consumed with 50 ml water will relieve excess urination.
